Blinding snow and piles of snow kept all but the most fearless drivers off the track for qualifying today. The rookies in particular seemed astonished that the pro’s were out risking their machines, and oh yeah their lives. One rookie, now nicknamed fearless Tim, decided to play with the big boys and took his car out for a qualifying time of 22.19s.   more »

Kyosho Radial Tire Set for Monster

While we all love the V Tread tires for the Kyosho Mini-Z Monster they leave something to be desired when it comes to track racing.  They slide around way too much.  The Radial tires are about 10 degree's softer than the stock tires I believe which contributes to the added traction, as well as the tread pattern.  The lower overall profile of the Radial tires also helps marginally with the center of gravity problem with the Monster being so high up.  I would also pair these with either Kyosho Soft or Hard Inner Sponge Sets depending on your preference.  These give you much better tire response and increased speeds.

I know this has nothing to do with performance but the raised lettering on the sidewalls has been a very nice addition to Kyosho Monster and Overland tires as well.  There's nothing wrong with looking good as well as working good

I haven't taken my Monster out on the street as much but I think the performance gains would translate just as well on the pavement as they do on the track.  These coupled with an aggressive forward leaning stance and a fast motor/cell setup make the Monster very fun to race.  If you want to take it to the next level, check out Dominick Shaunt and ph2t's Li-Poly Monster setups on Mini-ZRacer.com.  Bithed's stretched chassis setup is nice as well.  There are plenty of very nice setups displayed/shared on the forum.
